Blue Light is a crime prevention initiative that began in 1982 under South Australia Police (SAPOL) Community Programs Support Branch. Blue Light was brought about by the identified need to address policing problems involving youth by providing young people with safe, wholesome and well-supervised activities.
Blue Light in South Australia has evolved into an essential part of policing in this State. Discos are no longer the only events held under the Blue Light banner. Blue Light camps, 'One and All' Sail Training, Living Skills Programs, Basketball Programs, Skate Competitions, School Visits, and Educational Visits are all part and parcel of the Blue Light package available to young people in South Australia.
