Errappa Camp

Mission Statement

Working in partnership with young people, the wider community and agencies to promote leadership, team building, self-esteem, a sense of responsibility and respect for oneself and others in the community.

Errappa (the Aboriginal word for Iron Knob) can be found 50 kilometres northwest of Whyalla in the historical Iron Knob mining township.

The campsite was chosen in this area not only for its remoteness so as to remove participants from outside influences, but also for its environmental features. Errappa provides the perfect backdrop for a range of outdoor activities including abseiling, rock climbing and bushwalking.

Other activities on offer are a challenge course, high/low ropes courses, flying fox, indoor hall, basketball, beach volley ball, disco facilities and billiard tables.

Errappa’s client base includes school groups, youth at risk, young offenders, victims of crime, disadvantaged youth, indigenous and multicultural groups.

Errappa is not restricted to Blue Light programs and is used by corporate groups for team building adventure training.

The main client base is ‘at risk’ young people. Police deliver the program and work with young people to ‘break down the barriers’ and foster police/youth relationships in a non-police environment that is continued when the young person returns to their community.
